Final Project Posters, Back to Paris.

This is a reference to one content creator that goes by "Atrioc". He's known for speed running a game called Hitman. In this game, the first level is in Paris, and he is known of doing a lot of reruns, and so his chat coined the term "Back To Paris" for when somebody returns to what they started with, and for me, I ended my first party project with two posters, and I shall do that again. I am returning to Paris.

Cool Little Graphic :3

I explained hat reference a little longer then I probably was supposed to. This is apart of my final project, where I have focused on making a bunch of different sorts of graphics, and one of them is posters! I love posters, they're a really good way to fill up a wall with pretty pictures, along with being cheaper then most mediums of covering walls like painting, wallpaper etc.

Posters are quite popular with younger people, due to both how cheap they are since younger people tend to not have as much money as older people people, along with not needing any sort of nail or damaging a surface to put on. This is important because younger people either live with their family or are renting housing, and usually both don't let the tenants nail things into their walls. Since posters are so light, they can be stuck on with some Blue-Tac and can be taken off with no residue left on the surface.

"EP" by Mind Shrine, Edited on Photoshop

So, what research did I do to start this? The same thing as usual, the album EP by Mind Shrine. I love this album inside out because of its really simple but effective cover of a light hearted story about confusion, reaching out and running from your problems, with the songs themselves being like you're floating on clouds.

That's not the only inspiration that I have had for this piece, I also have used my past project of making graphics to songs which is an extension song from listening to music and drawing (to a degree) since although I spent such a long time trying to make it work and I finally made a product I was happy enough with, I wanted to try and remake it using a different idea.

This idea, to me, is pretty interesting. What if they made merchandise hinting at the existence of the next album, IS IT YOU? with a new deluxe version of EP by Mind Shrine, along with some T-Shirts pairing with the launch, and the main thing I want to be the main focal point of the drop, the poster. I was first thinking of doing three different designs for this, but I fell in love with one concept, so instead I made first tried to improve on that single design I made for the concept by making different versions, but then as I took a step back I loved all three of them, so I included them all as different versions that people would be able to buy.

I know this is a tinge random but I really need to start adding in WIP screen shots don't I? because now would be the part that I would show you them and talk about the things I did and what I thought about them, but no. Instead I had to go ahead and just do the entire thing without considering the 2000 screenshots I would have to sieve through t so I can go from a pass to a merit. I would also be able to more affectively talk through my design process and what thoughts I had during the making of them and blah blah blah...Anyways, here are the final products. 8)

Mind Shrine Is It You? V1, V2 and V3 Mock Up

These are it! I think these area a hue improvement compared to the first posters I have made. A lot more consideration has been taken into these. I also did want to try and find a mock-up I could download of posters inside a house, but when looking none of the links worked, but this one did sadly, so here we are.

Now, there are some things I should highlight, and the first thing I want to highlight is how my Artist Research is highlighted here. For the middle one, the boarder that follows the edge of the poster along with the checkerboard pattern is inspired by the artist Peter Blake, especially off of the album cover he made for The Who, called WHO. The third poster is also inspired by one of my research artists, Liz Harry with the usage of tape on the graphic. This specific attribute is inspired from one single cover she made for artist I Blame Coco, and the single called Quicker.

Another thing I wanted to highlight is the experimentation, with using patterns in my pieces, along with using tool like Blur to see what sort of effect it would give on the piece. Although this isn't the most adventurous piece I have made, I still think it has it's place as it is very well executed in my humble opinion.

I should also say how I will be analysis these. I won't be making a whole bunch of paragraphs for each piece, but more one big paragraph for each section highlighted with either 1, 2 or 3. If the numbers aren't there, that means it applies to all three different graphics.

Is It You? Hint Poster V1, V2 and V3 Final Products

So, what do I think of the work I have produced here? I think I have produced three different posters that are all very effective filling a room with some sort of colour, along with them possibly being used as posters used for promotion rather then product, but it wouldn't be as effective.

Well, was it successful? At first, I didn't think that number 2 was very successful because I felt that the blue and green checkerboard didn't look very good, but slowly as I have been working on it, it really grew on me with its thinner boarders and a bolder usage of colours. Number 3 was an absolute smash in my opinion, with swapping up the entire format from one and two with a more appropriate aspect ratio of text on the top and bottom, whilst the graphics are in the middle. Number 1 is also pretty good, for such standing more as a classic kind of poster, rather then number 3 which I feel is more tailored to a younger generation with its older uses of colours without them being sickening.

What would I do differently? Well that's funny, because I already took that into consideration when making the other two, since I didn't like how empty number 1 felt, so I filled it with a pattern along with adding a white boarder to the graphics and text to make sure it was easier to read along with more eye catching, then I didn't like the concept as a whole for number 2, I felt it wasn't interesting enough despite its more prominent usage of colours which brought me to number 3. I don't think I would do anything differently for number three, all of the assets are balanced out well, the use of blue and green go really well with each other in this piece and I really like the creative uses of the blur tool here.

How could I develop this further? I think the next thing I would do for number 1 and 2 is try and include the text used onto a T-Shirt as merchants that would drop with the poster, or I could even have the entire graphic as the print on the T-shirt, or even a phone case due to their more appropriate design for such. For number 3, I think I made it too fit for design, and I can't really see where else this graphic could be developed, perchance as its own album cover with the little pictures removed, changed the title, turned it into a square rather then a rectangle and change the colours from green and blue to something else. Apart from that though, I couldn't tell you really.

Is this something I Ould revisit to a later date? I would like to think so. This was really fun, making multiple designs, optimising each iteration, so I think I would definitely come back to try and make one final version to see if I could improve it any more, along with placing the already existing designs onto mock-ups.
