This piece was a first taste test of a piece of software called Adobe Illustrator, a graphics software that works using vectors rather than bitmaps, like photoshop.
I think that this first piece I have produced honestly isn't that good, I don't like the font choice, font size, the framing, and the overall lack of skill shown in this first piece, but this was something to be expected since this was the first time I've used the software before, so I'll cut myself some slack. I mainly used the Pen tool, along with using its fill and stroke future included, along with the text tool. Then, for the lovely bridge border, I've added for the blog (since I like how it looks) I used photoshop using the bucket tool.
Now, was it successful? Well, for the task at hand, which was to create a piece as a way to begin learning adobe illustrator, I definitely think so. It helped me learn the pen tool, which was the main reason why we're using illustrator, to use the pen tool. Just to comment on the pen tool, by the way, I think it's a really cool tool, and with some practice I can definitely see m, myself getting better at using it, along with the rest of Adobe Illustrator.
If I would have done anything differently when making this, I would've first experimented with other tools, since this entire piece was made up using the pen tool and the text tool. For design-wise, I would've made the disco ball head, yes that's supposed to be a disco ball, into something else, like maybe a big yellow smiley face, because I know how to make those. I would've also changed the fonts to maybe something more cube-y (if that's a word), along with resizing them to be bigger, since I think they're a bit small.
How could I develop this further? I think some basic cell shading in the main part, but I'm not very good at it and despite that, I'd do it. I would also develop this into a birthday card, and make an inside for the card with premade little text as many other celebratory cards have.
Would I revisit this in the future? I think I would. I really like the concept of this piece, with it pulling inspiration from my beloved Pinterest board along with album art, this piece is inspired by the 2016 album "Blond" by Frank Ocean. There's no coloration between Blond and parties, but I just like the album cover. But would I revisit this if I had the chance? I would.
