Collage, Documenting My Interpretation Of A Rave.

This one is my second favourite piece, mainly because of the imagery I made for it, how its so many things that have such abstract colours, shapes and outlines to make a truly unusual looking piece.

Collage - 2022

As you can see, we have a lot of things here like faces, drinks, high heels, to, well, redacted. To me, all of these things I associate with party, which you can see in my mind maps! But to get more technical, this was made using cut-out pieces of coloured card, stuck on a piece of A1 with a glue stick, and drawn over with felt tip markers. For editing, I used photoshop, specifically their fill tool and their magic wand tool, to get rid of the white paper and replace it with the matte beige, which to me makes it look better on the blog.

From what Iout this piece, I think I absolutely smashed this. One of the reasons is the choice of colours, as you know I associate bright colours with parties if you've been reading through all of my posts, some include bright blues, oranges, greens, and yellows amongst others associate this with parties. With this too, the items here I associate with parties, specifically raves, since I think I just did the mind map before this so that you can see alcohol, mech and glow-in-the-dark glasses! made from glow sticks. Another thing I did well in this piece is the drawings. The drawings are exactly what I wanted, rough but creative shapes that use a lot of coloured markers, along with those parts where its coloured in but not fully, I love that, the energy that those drawing kind of give me show like a good time, that kind of free spirit, but any ink this was successful? absolutely, since the purpose of this for me was to make something just pretty to look at.

Would I do anything differently if I could do this again? The only thing I would change is the little line doodle at the top if you can see that, I could've edited it out but then it wouldn't have been true to the task I gave myself, which is to capture as much detail as you can of the picture, but just change the white to beige.

How could I develop this further? I would first fill every crevice with different items, like perhaps a disco ball, or a neon sign amongst other ideas. I would also use coloured card with different patterns to make it more interesting to look at, but that's about it really, I don't wanna take away its core by adding too much extra.

Would I revisit this at a later date in future work? I feel like I would make something like this in the future, simply because it is a really good exercise to make ideas along with fun to make.
