This is a ransom note that is supposed to be for my mother and sister. If you're curious, We were going to eat Angel Delight and water as we are going to be riding the icon in Blackpool Pleasure Land.
This was made as an assignment, where we had o make. fake scenario of taking two people of our choice onto a dinner party. I chose my mother and my sister as participants, and location is Blackpool Pleasure Land as you know. This was made with real pages from magazines, like real ransom notes, stuck onto a piece of paper and put on a clip board, but as usual I wanted to give it a beige background, so I took a photo, threw it into Photoshop, and with a picture of messing with contrast levels, the fill tool and the brush tool, I made this!
I think this picture is really cool! I love the picture of the whole bunch of different fonts and sizes used in it, I might use this idea more in other graphics, but lets see. I also like the random colours used, especially at the start, but when you get more though the graphic you can see the letters begin to get more similar to each other, which although isn't desirable is still okay. One more thing I like about this piece is the unevenness of the text, as in that its not all next to each other and kind of scruffy, to me that really helps with the ransom note kind of look.
To me, it was successful to a point. I didn't have enough time for the full message since I took really long to cut out the individual letters along with finding the right ones, so I'd say its like 50 percent successful, because it got what I wanted, but not the full idea, if you understand what I mean.
What would I have done differently? I would've absolutely changed the ratio from landscape to portrait, to me it doesn't look right when it isn't in portrait, but that's just a pet peeve for me. I also would've found question marks and exclamation marks in the magazines if I had enough time, and if I could do it again I would do that, since to me the random pieces of pen kind of ruin the look.
If I would develop this further, and I know I've already highlighted this in the paragraph before last but I would finish the rest of my ransom note, but its a bit late now since I lost the original sheet that it was written on.
Would I revisit this in future work? I think I would as inspiration in the fonts, since some of them look really fun, along with just using the theme of choosing many fonts into a single text.
